Formulario en Inglés 2006 Latin American and Caribbean FAIC Scholarships to attend the AIC Meeting in Providence, Rhode Island.
The 34th Annual Meeting of American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Work (AIC) will be held at the Westin Providence Hotel in Providence, Rhode Island June 16-19, 2006. The General Session topic will be "Using Artifacts: Is Conservation Compromised?" When does society have the right to use cultural property? Access to and use of cultural property is constantly debated. The assessment of possible damage or change that could occur to physical condition, perceived values(s), or possible future uses is usually weighted when making the decision to use an object. This year's meeting will explore the criteria that influence the decision making process.
The Foundation of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (FAIC) is working on obtaining financial support to offer scholarships to conservation professionals from Latin America and the Caribbean to participate in the 2006 AIC Annual Meeting. This announcement is posted before the funding is obtained due to the length of time needed to disseminate the information, receive the documentation from applicants, and process the applications. However, this does not imply a commitment by FAIC to give scholarships. Conservation professionals with a minimum of three years of experience and currently employed in the conservation field may apply. Priority will be given to new applicants; previous scholarship recipients may apply again. The selection will be based on the quality of the essay. Please read carefully the following information and send an application in English to the Foundation of the American Institute for Conservation, 2006 AIC Annual Meeting, at the specified address at the bottom:
" Personal information: full name, address, e-mail, fax, and phone numbers.
" Curriculum vitae (maximum 3 pages, please do not attach photos and additional information).
" An essay, preferably on the topic of the conference (maximum 400 words). The selected applicants will present this information as a poster (that meets the criteria established by the AIC) at the Poster Session during the meeting.

FAIC will send an original letter of award to be presented at the respective American Embassy. The costs associated with the visa will be the responsibility of the applicant.
